Is $70 Too Much for a Haircut?
Quick answer
Not in Georgetown, TX. A $70 women's haircut sits in the middle of published local prices, which run from $17 at a student salon to $90 and up with some independent stylists.

The honest answer depends on what the $70 buys. As a price on its own, it's ordinary for Georgetown. Here's what salons in town list on their own pages for a women's cut. Prices were checked in November 2026.
| Where in Georgetown | Women's haircut, as listed |
|---|---|
| The Salon Professional Academy (student salon) | $17, with blow dry |
| Gatzby Salon, associate menu | $50+ |
| Posh Salon | $58+ above the shoulder, $63+ below |
| Gatzby Salon, main menu | $60+, with blow-dry and styling |
| Salon Lofts, Grace Barker | $65 to $80 |
| Karen Shardlow | $76+ short, $93+ extra long |
| Salon Lofts, Rene Onorato | $85, with style |
| Salon Lofts, Christi Faught | $90 and up |

So $70 is above the entry-level prices and below most of what experienced stylists list. Karen's own cuts start a little higher, at $76 for short hair. See Karen's starting prices.
What should a $70 haircut include?
Compare what comes with the price, not only the number. Gatzby's $60+ haircut lists a hair bath, a face cloth, a head and neck massage, a blow-dry and styling. A women's cut with Karen runs about an hour and starts with a real consultation, as her haircuts page explains.
At $70, it's fair to expect a real conversation before the scissors come out. If you're out of the chair in 15 minutes with no questions asked, the price is harder to justify.
When is $70 too much?
It may be more than you need if:
- Your hair is easy and you only want a trim
- You're happy with your current shape and any careful stylist can follow it
- You'd rather book a newer stylist and save money
A student salon or an associate can be a sensible choice for simple work. Posh Salon's page says its prices are a starting point and may vary with your stylist's level of experience, along with your length and thickness.
When is it worth paying $70 or more?
Paying more tends to make sense when a mistake would be hard to live with:
- A big change, like going short
- Fine hair, where errors show quickly
- A cut you've struggled to get right elsewhere
Does the plus sign matter?
Yes. A price with a plus sign is a starting price. Long or thick hair usually costs more, so a "$58+" cut may not be $58 for you. Ask for your likely price before you book.
Remember the tip as well. At about 20%, a $70 cut comes to $84. We cover that in how much to tip your hair stylist, and our wider guide to haircut prices in Georgetown explains why the same cut can cost different amounts.
